THE WINNER IN SPAIN RESUMES IN AUSTRIA!

Another 100% distance classic delivered at the Red Bull Ring, and this time it was Rankupwithme who stood tallest after a breathtaking 71-lap strategic battle. The Williams driver converted pole position into victory after fending off teammate Bards and McLaren's Yeshurrun in one of the season's finest races so far. Bards completed a sensational recovery from P11 to P2, while Yeshurrun secured his second podium in just three races together with Bards, underlining their impressive start to Season 24.

From the very beginning, Rankup looked untouchable. The Williams driver had shown supreme pace all weekend, while teammate Bards saw his Q2 lap ruined and was left unable to reach Q3. Yet the Brit would produce arguably the drive of the day.

For much of the opening 30 laps, six drivers remained locked together in a tense DRS train: Rankup, Yeshurrun, Mamoodev, Energetic, Bobow and HaggisNT. The front group traded tenths rather than positions, each waiting for the crucial pit phase.

The race changed when Rankup committed to an aggressive two-stop strategy, pitting earlier than his rivals. Energetic, meanwhile, looked set to make a one-stop work brilliantly after building a healthy gap. However, a costly speeding infringement in the pit lane handed him a 10-second penalty and forced a strategic rethink, ultimately dropping the Mercedes driver down the order.

Yeshurrun appeared ready to steal the show. The McLaren driver stretched his tyres beautifully on a one-stop strategy and even inherited the lead after Rankup's second stop. With just over twenty laps remaining, it looked entirely possible that the McLaren could go the distance.

But Rankup had other ideas.

Fresh medium tyres allowed the Williams driver to slice through traffic, producing standout overtakes around the outside of Turn 5 on both Bobow and Mamoodev before beginning a relentless pursuit of Yeshurrun. Lap after lap, the gap shrank until Rankup finally reclaimed the lead on Lap 65, never looking back to secure his second win of the season and extend his championship lead.

Bards' recovery from eleventh on the grid to second capped a dream afternoon for Williams, giving the team a dominant one-two finish and strengthening their grip on both championships.

Mamoodev once again impressed enormously in Aston Martin machinery, spending much of the race in podium contention and making life difficult for Bobow throughout. The reigning champion ultimately finished fifth after remaining with the leaders for much of the race before slipping back in the final stages.

HaggisNT brought his Alpine home sixth after another consistent display, while Energetic had to settle for seventh after what might have been a race-winning strategy unraveled.

Justin continued to struggle adapting to the new regulations despite securing eighth for Haas. Rollie admitted a lack of preparation hurt him throughout the weekend. After an entertaining early duel with Scaparro, the Alpine driver spent much of the race alone, with his most memorable late-race moment being lapping Rothnz during the closing laps...

Scaparro collected valuable points for Red Bull despite a time penalty and being lapped, while Luca quietly continued his excellent debut full-time campaign in Audi machinery by once again finishing ahead of teammate NoirEclipseRacing. Rothnz's race was a pleasant Sunday drive under clear skies and brought the Ferrari home in twelfth.

ToxxicElijah recovered from the back of the grid to score points for Red Bull, while Atisthrottle completed another solid run for Cadillac. NoirEclipseRacing saw the chequered flag despite a difficult afternoon, and Sir Ibbo once again demonstrated remarkable persistence by surviving to the finish by completing 90% of race distance despite four pit stops.

Among the retirements, Dunce endured a frustrating afternoon for VisaRB, while Box-for-inters and Fragiletunnel also failed to make the finish. The unluckiest driver, however, was Crunchypancake. After colliding with NoirEclipseRacing's spinning Audi and subsequently becoming stranded on gravel, the Mercedes driver was eventually disqualified.

With three rounds completed, Williams now sit comfortably atop the Constructors' standings, while Rankupwithme has opened a significant gap in the Drivers' Championship.

Rankupwithme interview: "First stint was an armagedon between me, Yesh and Energetic fighting hard swapping places, even pulled off a double overtake on them. I pitted the earliest out of all front runners on lap 21, went mediums again and was pushing so hard on them. As I saw Yesh pitting on lap 26 on the hards I thought okay, he's doing a one-stop...

And then the crazy part came, he was chucking down the gap that I had of 6.5! Over 14 laps he took it all the way down and overtook me just as I was about to pit on lap 43. That's where I was seriously concerned because the one-stop looked very real because the percentages weren't going down. Thankfully the pace was!

As I came onto the track on brand new mediums I had the biggest problem ahead of me, three drivers! Had to pull a beautiful overtake on Bobo around the outside of Turn 5 and later on Mamoodev. And then the chase started. Lap after lap. One step at a time. Twelve seconds gap was awaiting me, Yesh in the lead.

At the time, lap 51, I was fully focused on myself and the car. And then every single lap I was taking the gap down by half a second every lap, slowly, consistently. It was just me and the car, beautiful to feel that after an uncertainty in preparations around the setup and fuel management.

On lap 65, six laps to the end, I finally made it. I overtook Yesh. And since that overtake, everything just went quiet. I was buzzing in the car, hearing the crowd chanting my name, standing on their feet, JUST BRING IT HOME THIS IS YOU! That's what was going through my head.

The weekend can be described just as me and the car, in perfect harmony. It feels amazing to be back on top, feels as phenomenal as the first one in Spain. What an incredible race. Congrats to my very good friends Yesh that he pulled the one-stop and ridiculous pace in first two stints, and Bards for the incredible P11 to P2, that's for sure a contender for Driver of the Day."*
