A1881 F1 LEAGUE OPERATION AND RULES
A1881 F1 LEAGUE OPERATION AND RULES
General Operation of the League
We wanted to share here the things we made a habit to pay
attention to enjoy more at the time we spend together in this activity. We
gathered all the rules here in one place to make it easier for the new members
to blend.
A1881 LEAGUE SETTINGS AND OPERATION
The A1881 League is a league that comprises of the races we do on Sunday evenings and we take much more seriously than the weekday races. The league's operation and rules are as follows:
1- Except for exceptional cases (like a real F1 race at that hour), it is held at 20:00 CET / 21:00 CEST on Sunday evenings. Again, except for exceptional cases (like the real F1 race right behind it), full qualifying (18/15/12) is used. If 5 drivers can not be reached in a certain week, the race is cancelled and erased from the calendar (something never happened). If 10-15 drivers attend, a single 18m qualifying is performed. If 16+ drivers attend (at least 16 without a qualifying ban) full qualifying (18/15/12) is performed.
2- The rules to be followed on track is in the "RULES ON TRACK " section below. New participants are highly recommended to read that section before hitting track for not being penalised unnecessarily.
3- Vehicles:
Realistic, everyone gets their vehicles that are decided before the league
starts in each race. In the following seasons, new season vehicles are
selected, starting from the lowest driver, depending on the championship
ranking. You can get information about the vehicle distribution system, down in Car Allocation System section.
3a- If a full time driver takes a wrong idle car during lobby or qualifying:
- If the driver taking the wrong idle car has taken the same or a lower cluster car than his own;
- If the Driver Skill Rating (DSR) of the driver taking the wrong car is not 5 points or above the driver he replaces,
He will be classified in end results and points he brings will be entered to WCC of the car he used (also as a wildcard if the missing driver had one to use). (See CAS 8 below, for info on wildcards).
In situations where both these are not fulfilled, the driver will be disqualified in end results and will not be classified for points.
If a driver takes a wrong car whose driver had checked in and was ready to race, it may grant a lobby restart if noticed before the race start by admins and the driver taking the wrong car will receive 15 penalty points. If not noticed, the rules for taking the idle car will be applied but the driver making the mistake will still get 15 penalty points.
4- Ai (Bot) Level: 85 (This is the AI difficulty which is used to determine the cars' pace when a driver becomes afk for any reason).
5- All assists are turned off. (Elite Settings). This is the hallmark of our league, it will not change even a bit, in today or in the future. Cockpit cam is NOT forced, except for selected races by the grid to be raced with forced cockpit cam.
6- In-game settings are as follows:
Weather: Dynamic, approximate
Corner cutting: Strict
Formation Round: Yes.
Damage: Simulation
Qualify: Full or 18, depending on the number of attending
drivers.
Race Distance: 50% (Except pre-determined tracks which will be run %100)
8- Scoring will
be done as follows:
2. 33 points
3. 28 Points
4. 24 Points
5. 22 Points
6. 20 points
7. 18 points

Sprint Race Points System:
P1:14 P2:11 P3:9 P4:7 P5:6 P6:5 P7:4 P8:3 P9:2 P10:1 P11–P20:0
9- Objections / reports related to the incidents in the race (incidents with other non-ai drivers or unfair penalties given by the computer, etc.) are reported to FIA via the relevant form on Discord, until 07:00 CEST on the following Tuesday after the race. After this, the reported drivers will have 24 hours to upload the required footage to their channels. The FIA will make its decision on reported incidents before the next raceday and notify the group if penalties or a change in final standings are required.
9a- Every driver's accuracy in their FIA complaints will be calculated after they reach 6 complaints, and if more than %50 of their complaints required no action, they will receive 5 penalty points for unreasonable appeals. The same calculation will be made again in 8th, 10th and 12th appeals they made afterwards. So simply said, drivers are recommended to not make an appeal if their chances of becoming right is less than tossing a coin.
10- For bot-related (AI related) errors, an appeal can be made to deduct the time penalty from results only if the bot's contact resulted in a time penalty. Penalties such as corner cutting etc. without bot/other drivers' contact will not be reviewed unless there is an obvious game error. For corner cutting without a contact from other drivers, we completely rely on in-game penalty system, unless there is a very obivous and clear game error (which does not require any calculation of gained/lost time) and FIA does not consider complaints related to this.
10a- Third parties can make FIA appeals about incidents related to gaining an advantage by an obvious violation (e.g resetting to track) or incidents related to be possibly changing the fate of the race for the entire grid (joining track unsafely, retiring car on track on purpose, possible triggering of sc with an intentional action etc). For the incidents during battles between two or more drivers, (not leaving space, hitting from behind etc) only the drivers involved in that incident can do a FIA appeal.
11- It is mandatory to broadcast or save a recording during the races for possible FIA Appeals. In case of an incident, the driver who cannot show a broadcast/recording is automatically deemed at fault and receives a penalty point both for not providing footage and an extra penalty assuming that there is a violation in the complaint about the driver.
12- In case of
non-compliance with the rules specified in the league, each driver will receive 5, 10 or more penalty points based on the type of the
violation.
Penalty thresholds for full time drivers:
15 penalty points: Quali ban
30 total penalty points: Quali ban
45 total penalty points: Race ban
50 Total penalty points: Season ban
2 consecutive season bans: Loss of full time seat
Drivers with a quali ban must retire in pits without hitting track, before any other driver retires for any possible reason except having a Q ban. The violation of this will bring disqualification from end results 10 penalty points if he also sets a time, or only 10 penalty points if he came back to pits without setting a time.
Penalty thresholds for reserve drıvers:
15 total penalty points: Race ban in the following race
25 total penalty points: Race ban in the 2 following races
Total 30 penalty points: Season ban
2 consecutive season bans: Loss of reserve seat and the
right to race in A1881
12a- If a driver refuses to serve the imposed quali / race ban on purpose, he is going to be disqualified from end results and will receive a season ban
12a1- The penalty
points acquired in the last race of a season will be carried to the next
season. If a driver receives 15, 30 or 45 penalty points with violation/s in the
last race, he will serve a quali ban in the first race of the following season.
The penalty points acquired before the last race will be erased.
12a2- If a driver with a quali ban doesn't participate the next race, his quali ban is going to be counted as served. If a driver with a quali ban is replaced by a reserve, the reserve taking his seat for that race is going to serve the Quali Ban of the full time driver he replaces.
12b- Unfair time penalties (except corner cutting penalties without a contact from other drivers) given by the computer during the game are corrected at the end of the race in case of objection, and the results are arranged. If the unfair time penalty was served in the pits, it can no longer be deducted. Penalties other than time penalty are not examined even if they are unfair (DT penalty, etc.).
13- Failure to mark participation status (attendance) for the next race on Discord until 21:00 CET on Saturday night will result in 5 penalty points. Failure of the driver to attend to the race who has checked in for the race without notice will result in 15 penalty points. If a driver does not mark participation status for 3 races in a row or 5 races in total within a season, the admins may ask the driver to switch to reserves, if there are reserves interested.
13a- Joining the
race after the quali begins is not allowed. Everybody should be present in the
lobby before the racetime. This situation can be tolerated only if a driver
informs the organizers about being late before the Quali begins. If the driver who checked in is not present in the lobby at the race hour without informing the admins, admins may give his car to a reserve in last minute. Sending
invites to other drivers who weren't present in the lobby is not also allowed
and will be penalised with 15 pp.
14- In case of equal points, the ranking among the drivers with the same score is determined according to the following principles:
- The driver who has won more races overall is considered
above.
- If both the total number of races won and total points are
equal, the driver with less penalty points will be considered on top.
- If both the number of races won and penalty points are
equal, the driver who has made more podiums is considered to be at the top.
- If all are equal the driver taking the win or the podium
earlier is considered on top.

RULES ON TRACK
1- We are not trying to win the race on the first corner, it usually results in a dnf or someone breaking a wing.
2- If for some reason we are out of track, we are waiting for the safe moment to enter the track. We do not dive into the track without checking the map, we do not go backwards on the track while there is traffic. We don't do reset to track. Joining track unsafely will be penalised by 10 or more penalty points depending on the consequences. 10pp if caused loss of time, 15 pp if caused damage, 20 pp if caused DNF. If it gives damage to multiple drivers, penalty may be increased appropriately by FIA.
3- If we are going to stop the race (retire) on our own initiative, that is, when the vehicle is in motion, we do this after we carry the vehicle to the pits, we try not to put unnecessary safety car in the middle of it because we are upset. The violation of this will bring 15 penalty points.
4- If any part of a vehicle gets (even slightly) alongside another vehicle before the cars started steering for the turn (if there is a red arrow on the screen), we leave enough space for the other vehicle to not protrude from the track. If the driver behind (Rothnz) inserts his nose and triggers red arrows after the driver ahead (me) started turning, the apex is for the driver ahead to claim. Causing a collision by ignoring this or in other ways (missing braking, hitting from behind etc) will be penalised with 10 or more penalty points depending on consequences. 10 pp if causes loss of time, 15 if causes damage, 20 pp if causes DNF.
5- If there is someone behind us in the qualifying laps, we take care not to slow him down and we go off the track if necessary. Causing loss of time during quali (ruining someone’s hotlap) is penalised with 10 penalty points. If the damage is more severe, the penalty might be increased.
6- We give way to
lapping car in the first possible space, this is a bit of a hairy issue, we
don't have to give way as soon as the blue flag is waved, but we usually do
that if it is possible. Since we are in our own race while being lapped most of
the time, we sometimes make the lapping (Altan) wait for a little bit for the
appropriate moment, in which case we apologize to each other (to Altan).
Causing loss of time under blue flags is penalised with 10 penalty points. If the
damage is more severe, the penalty might be increased.
7- If a vehicle
is trying to overtake us, we have a chance to make a single move to the right
or left to defend. We have to make this move before any part of that vehicle
comes in line with our vehicle. If you have made your move but the man is
flowing from the other side, we do not get angry, we take deep breaths. Maybe
we'll catch up later, you know? (Failed to catch). The violation of this
(weaving in straight, even without causing harm) is penalised with 5 penalty points.
7b- Trying to give way or going too slow under yellows or during SC / SC exit will be penalised with 15pp. If you receive a 10s penalty as a result of passing a slow / span car for illegal overtake, it will be removed in the end results if not served in pits. So do not try to give position back if the game says illegal overtake for a very slow car during yellows.
9- We do not deliberately use unnecessary and hard braking (brake checking, verstappening) while in front of another vehicle. This is considered an intentional violation and it can be punished more severely than other violations, including being kicked out of the league permanently.
10- Intentionally hitting a car without trying to slow down is also considered an intentional violation and is penalized more severely by the FIA than for other rule violations, including exclusion from the league.
11- Overtaking under sc and vsc is not allowed, unless the game tells you to overtake. If a driver overtakes you during sc & vsc, don't try to take your position back unless the game tells you so, because the game might have said to do so to the driver who passed you. Just file a complaint and FIA will solve it. Overtaking under yellow flags intentionally during SC will be penalised with disqualification from the end results and 15 penalty points. The same will be applied during the SC exit procedure. For local yellow flags on track, the situation might be evaluated differently depending on the situation.
12- At the exit of the sc, drivers should wait for the green flag to perform overtakes. The violation of this (by not giving position back) will bring 15 pp and disqualification from end results. This is one of the rare rules that is being applied different from real F1. The green flag on a screen is the time to perform overtakes in SC exits, not the finish line.
13- Overtaking
during formation lap is not allowed, unless the car in front is extremely slow
or crashed / out of track. The violation of this rule is penalised with 5 pp.
14- Intentionally breaking the meter boards, or breaking the meter board signs without trying to slow down is going to be penalised. This involves situations where the driver tries to maximize the use of the width of the track. Driver must be aware of and away from the signs while doing this, or they will be penalised with 10 pp.
15- Drivers are not allowed to take shortcuts during quali in their out-in laps to save time. This will result in 5 pp.
16- It is illegal to use off track on purpose and regularly in all tracks. This will be penalised by FIA when noticed, with 5, 10 or 15 penalty points according to the severity and the advantage gained by the violation.
17- Leaving the car on ai on purpose in Sunday League races without a legitimate reason and/or without informing the group will be penalised with 35 pp. If you don't want to race a track, simply don't join the race. People don't do league races to race with AI.
18- In SC exits,
the leading driver must leave a space to not allow him to see the SC anymore,
and keep that distance until the SC reaches the pit lane. After the SC reaches
pit lane, the leading driver should have a steady pace and can only start the
race once. (He can not brake and restart repeatedly). The violation of this
will be penalised with 10 pp or more depending on the consequences.
19- It is NOT forbidden to pause the game and leave the car on AI during SC periods for our possible needs (resting legs, peeing, positioning our arses etc), HOWEVER, if your ai performs a violation during this, (causing a collision eg.) you will be penalised for the violation like you caused it. Brief usage of pause function other than the SC periods are also included in this. So our drivers are recommended to not leave the car on ai unless it is very necessary, or the risk is on them. Leaving the car on AI permanently is already forbidden and penalised more severely as stated at Rule 17.
20- For the occasions which has not been predicted in this rulebook, FIA holds the right to set a norm and apply the penalty accordingly.
CAR ALLOCATION SYSTEM
(CAS)
CAS 1 - Cars are allocated in reverse order according to the average ratings of the full time drivers. At the end of each season, the average points of the full time drivers between the races they finished are calculated. The dnfs are not included in the calculation of the average scores. The full time driver with the lowest average score has the first choice from the available vehicles. After choosing his car, the next full time driver with the lowest average score is asked to choose from the remaining cars.
CAS 2 - The Cars are categorized into one mandatory pick car (McLaren for 25 game) and 3 clusters. The 2 drivers with lowest average score / DSR from last season do the mandatory pick. The following 6 driver with the lowest average score pick from Cluster A (Top Cars), the following 6 drivers pick from Cluster B and the rest pick from Cluster C. Clusters can be re-organised based on the car performance updates the game may receive.
CAS 3 - In order for a full time driver to qualify based on average
score, he must have a participation rate of at least 60% to the races after the
point he entered the league and must finish at least 3 races before the end of
the season. If a driver fails to meet the participation rate criteria, he will be N/E and choose last regardless of his average score.
CAS 4 - If a driver joins the league mid-season, he will be asked to choose between available vehicles (if any) or will be placed as a reserve driver. New members are not going to be allowed to enter the official races on Sundays either as a reserve or a full time if they joined after the 7th race of the season. In other words, the last 3 races will not include newcomers. This may be overlooked only if the grid already knows a newly joining member and are okay with him to race in last 3 races.
CAS 6a - Beginning with Season 21, the wildcard points a driver can receive will be limited to his best finish position within a season. (For example, if the reserve wildcarding the full time driver has finished P3, but the ft driver had at best P10 within that season, the wildcarding driver will be classified as P10 in end results and receive points accordingly.) If it is the first race of a season, last season's best result for the replaced driver will be taken into account with same logic. If it is a new driver without any previous data, normal wildcard points will apply without a limit.
CAS 7 - If more reserves are available than the number of missing drivers, the reserves may be picked to race according to their DSR (Driver Skill Rating), to replace the missing full time with a similarly skilled reserve. The allocation and involvement of reserves do not work in a first come-first serve basis, it works mainly based on DSR.
CAS 8 - If a driver receives a season ban within a season, he can still pick based on the average score in the next selection period, if he has a +%60 attendance rate and finished at least 3 races at the point he received the season ban.
CAS 9 - If a driver finishes two consecutive seasons within the lowest 2 average scores, they will be Non-eligible to pick in the following car selection period. In other words, a driver can not pick a top car twice in a row, if he can not save himself from the lowest 2 average scores. This may be extended to a different number of cars before a season starts, if the game receives performance updates to cars.
CAS 10 - If multiple drivers become N/E only because of "Two Seasons Rule" (If they couldnt save themselves from the lowest 2 average score with a top car, but fulfill the attandance/races finished criteria), they will be ordered according to their average scores amongst them, starting from the driver with lower average score)
The non eligible
drivers for Car Selection Period will be ordered based on the following: (Except for being N/E because of "Two Seasons Rule")
- The one with a higher attendance rate as a FT driver picks
first.
- If the attendance rates are equal, the one with a higher
number of races finished are going to pick first.
- If all are equal, the one who has been longer in the
league picks first.
CAS 11 - It is not allowed to request a driver to pick or not to pick
a certain car, even in a very polite way, during car selection period. Although
we know that people who feel close enough to each other will do it anyway, just
keep in mind that you can file a complaint about it if you receive such a
request, and it will be penalised with 15 pp. Also, don't forget that you don't
have to conform to such a request in any circumstance.
