ENDRU CEMENTS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AFTER AUSTRIA GP!
Endru in his Racing Bull got another strong win, after a race long battle with Rian and Saul. Rian settled for P2 in his Sauber. Saul Goatman was classified third due to his time penalty, despite finishing ahead of Rian on track.
Saul started on pole with a comfortable time, while Endru
was off his usual quali pace. Saul, Varea and Rian began battling from the get
go, while Endru patiently saved himself from the midfield pack and joined
party. Despite two rain patches forcing drivers for inters in the middle and
the end of the race, the trio of Endru, Rian and Saul were always able to keep
up with each other, giving us an entertaining battle for 71 laps, with no
safety car interruption. This win gave Endru some important margin for error in second half
of the season, and strong hopes to finally get his first title in A1881. He was once more calm in his interview:
Endru: This was the
best race so far this season, despite messing up qualifying and not doing a lap
on new tyres, i managed to get a good start and slowly make my way up, and then
followed by continuous battling with Rian and Goat, who both had great pace,
also great job by everyone else as there was no saftey or virtual saftey car in
71 laps of Austria, also shout out to Roth for making a great recovery drive,
and with that extending the lead in the WCC.
Rian could have a stronger shot on this one if he picked hards
instead of mediums after the first rain patch. Even with this extra pit, he was
able to be there and get his second podium in his second completed race this
season. Saul seemed to enjoy his McLaren hack and managed to climb P2 in
standings, despite still being unable to translate this pace to a win.
Rothnz in the other Racing Bull was somehow again there and
once more extracted most of this race with strategic and safe driving, just
a tenth ahead of Bhavish and Rollie after deduction of penalties. Bhavish had
good pace in his McLaren, in a battle-filled race with Rollie, Spitz,
Naedangerdavid and Rothnz in the end. Rollie in Aston was just one tenth away
of P4 after deduction of penalties and showed good pace considering the underbody
damage he received at Lap 12. Naedangerdavid in Williams also was involved in
the fight of the second pack on grid, but was a bit off-pace during rain
transitions, and finished P7. Tvoje got his worst result in Mercedes this
season, by coming P8 yet still managed to stay above Dan, Bhavish and Rollie in
standings. Justin made his debut as a reserve for Haggisnt in Sauber and
finished P9, with a quality drive to show he has the talent. Keon came back to
A1881 grid as one of the most experienced on the league despite his young age
and managed to reach P10 and bring Alpine its first points this season, as a
reserve. Tbran contributed Aston by coming P11, after not having time to
practice due to power cut before race. Dan had a disappointing and boring race,
only to be spiced up a little bit in last lap by being lapped by Rollie and
finished P12. He still is above Rollie in standings, heading to his home race
next week... Kast had very good quali pace and reached Q3, but lacked consistency
and race pace, finishing P13. Inginne was P14 ahead of his teammate Sir Ibbo,
who was once more the last driver alive on track in his RedBull.
Varea, Valward, Gio and Spitz were all eggplanted. We are
heading to %100 length Silverstone next week…
