ROTHNZ PULLS A LAST TO FIRST ON SUZUKA IN SEASON 13 OPENER!
Rothnz demontstrated what being a GOAT means and showed a stunning performance to win the opener of Season 13 with Alpine. Champion Haggisnt followed him in Alphatauri, ahead of AdamLindberg in Williams…
Rothnz disqualified in Q1 to start the race at the back of
the grid, while Burtay started the race on pole in RedBull. Rothnz had a slow
but steady climb throughout the race and last SC coming in only 8 laps to go brought him inside the
winning scene. He overtook Haggi and Adam and pulled away quickly, setting the fastest lap and voted as Driver of the Day with Shamrock vote, making him
remember good old days with a post-race interview, after a winless last season.
Rothnz: It was great
fun to be back on the top again.
Such a funny track and
surrounded by great drivers it was a joyable ride. I fought hard for the
positions and climbed my way up after my miserable qualifying, lol.
I didnt think that I
would finish up on the top. Haggish was on a great pace with his Alpha Tauri,
and some really fast drivers on top, like Selecta, Valward and Adam02Lindberg,
so I probably aimed for like P5.
Also Burtay, Rianc,
Rollie and so on, was close after the SC compromised the field, so I was under
pressure from behind all the time too.
But its F1 you know, and
everything can happen, so I stayed close behind them in front and was ready to
go for it if the chance would be there. And I got the chance and took it after
Selecta/Valward incident. Then it was just Haggish and Adam left, and I managed
to conquer those two aswell, then it was just to keep it together for the last
laps and I managed to do so this time.
I had some rear wing
damage on lap 19, and that made the car oversteer a little and was pretty hard
to drive even tho the damage was just slightly there.
I did some tweeks on
frontwing in the last pitstop to make the car more stable and that worked out
perfect.
Im happy with that, it
shows i got both speed and some brain and knowledge to take the Alpines to win
the constructors, because thats what we aim for! 💪
When asked if his teammate Valward may be quitting his seat,
he calmly played down the rumours:
“Is he? I really hope
not! He has some serious speed and I hope we can win the WCC together this
season!”
This brought Rothnz’ tally of race wins to an unmatched 24,
an incredible record to break.
Champion Haggisnt was one of the favorites to not have an
ideal qualifying, but he managed to get ahead of Adam after last SC and reached
P2. AdamLindberg was annoyingly good, managing to keep Selecta and others behind in the majority of race and reach podium with a difficult to manage low downforce setup in his
Williams.
Right behind the podium was Rollie in Mercedes, taking advantage
of the gap towards the hairpin to overtake Rian and force him into a mistake.
He was just 0.5 short of a podium, after a consistent performance. In P5 we had
Naedangerdavid in Aston, having a relatively better first half of the race to
be completed with a late incident hitting Rian’s span car in last lap. P6 we
saw Burtay in RedBull, after having a comfortable pole, suffered from a
self-inflicted spin and had to settle for P6 eventually. Dan in Ferrari had a
good pace and despite being one of the victims of last lap Rian incident, although this
didn't change the result dramatically for him. Tvoje came 8th in his first race
with RedBull to contribute to his team. SCR_FTronc wildcarded for Keon in
McLaren as a last minute replacement, and had a solid P9 in his debut. Rianc
had to accept P10 after the aforementioned incident on last lap.
Selecta came P11, after once more chasing a win for the first
half of the race and then spending the second half whining about the game.
Magnelman wildcarded for Saul Goatman and brought important points to him and
Mercedes. P13 was Varea, to reach an acceptable result in his first race in his
full time Alfa Romeo seat. Kast came 14th in Haas, ahead of Inginne who brought
his grandma’s Williams 15th to finish line, in such a long and demanding race.
Sir Ibbo legend was once more the last driver alive on track with P16.
Valward, Bhavish, Cmrcnn and Tbran were all eggplanted.
We
are heading to Hungaroring for round 2 of Season 13 next Sunday in A1881!
