A1881 CLASSIC LATE SC DENIES A NEW RACE WINNER AND GOES FOR THE SAFE OPTION!
Rothnz the GOAT added another one to his and
Alpine tally of wins, this time denying a new race winner, Naedangerdavid in Aston.
Rianc followed them in third to fill the podium…
Qualifying went under mixed conditions and Haggi was the one
at the top with inters after the last laps in Q3. Rothnz was again disappointing in quali
and had to start at P14. Once more things went exactly as he needed.
Naedangerdavid was leading by almost 4 seconds after the exit of second SC and
at that point Rothnz seemed to have no chance on a win, after losing time while battling Rian and Burtay. Sir Ibbo’s retirement
at L31 brought the classic A1881 late SC in and David decided to stay on track
on his worn mediums, together with Rian and Rollie on hards. Rothnz was leading
the pack of pitters for fresh softs ahead of Burtay’s RedBull. He passed by
Rollie after Rollie's half spin and then was only hunting time for the tapeguy. This
gave him his second win in second race of the season, keeping his comfortable
lead both in championship and hall of fame.
David deserves a seperate paragraph, getting very close to
his first win here but once more caught off guard by late SC. Yet he still was able to reach podium after a long
while, ahead of the Rian the Alien in Alphatauri.
Burtay was less then a tenth behind Rian at finish line,
craving for his podium for a long time now. P5 we had Haggisnt in AT, limiting damage
by keeping himself at P2 in championship, 1 point ahead of Naedangerdavid.
SCR_FTronc had his first race as full time in Alpine, and with a steady pace he
contributed to his team enough to make Alpine the team of the week. Tbran came
seventh in Aston Martin, once more getting his unlucky moment with Saul Goatman
to give him permanent damage to suffer all race. Tvoje had very good pace here
in RedBull and finished P8, after receiving a penalty for cutting the chicane
when chicane was blocked at L34. AdamLindberg in Williams finished P9. Bhavish was able to reach P10 in his Ferrari, despite having mechanical issues with his G29
all week.
P11 was Magnelman, wildcarding for Kast in Haas and bringing
good points in his absence. Dan possibly suffered from the carnage in Lap 34
and had to settle for P12, definitely having more pace than that in his Ferrari.
Inginne brought his Williams with welded chassis at P13 to finish line,
finishing ahead of the two Mercedes who had an unlucky last lap incident where
Saul Goatman was pushed to spin in front of his teammate Rollie, blocking the
chicane and bringing a disaster result for the team, where Rollie could have a shot on
podium. Varea finished P16, having incidents with Bhavish and Saul Goatman, that
cost him a lot. Keon was the last driver alive on track with his McLaren,
possible suspect of L34 carnage which cost himself as much as it did to others.
Sir Ibbo was eggplanted to bring the dramatic late SC.
Selecta eggplanted due to wrong setup and Cmrcnn once more on his way to break
the all time record of 8 eggplants in a row, by reaching 5 already at second
race of the season.
