GORDINI WINS IN BAKU AND FULFILLS HIS DUTY ONCE MORE…
(Greatest of All Reserves) GOARdini, did an amazing job by winning in Azerbaijan GP, helping Mercedes limit damage when both drivers were missing. Dan drove extraordinarily and brought his damaged McLaren as second to finish line. Rothnz took the last step of podium from Rollie’s hands with a last second overtake…
Race began with Crownless King Altan on pole and he was able to keep his
lead until the end of 3 safety cars entering in the first half of the race.
With the exit of last SC, Altan began doing his mistakes and Gordini increased his pace. With Endru retiring in
castle section due to a skill issue, while he was leading, Gordini gained the lead and safely brought it
home.
The Swede was cheerful after delivering what was expected of him once
more:
“The day after the race, I was sleeping very well. Maybe because of my
win yesterday. It’s always fun and gives a nice feeling.
But it wasn’t a easy win. I realize already in the quali
that I use more wing than the majority of the field. I expect to be higher up
but only managed to make P6.
From my pov, the start went off nicely, but turned over to a
SC period almost immediately. In the restart and at lap 7 I was P3 and make my
only mistake. I was close to an Alfa Romeo and missed my braking point and
ended up in the run off area. Fall back to P10.
After that incident I focus to be fast in the curvy parts to
to compensate for my low speed on the start/finish straight.
The race went on, lots of SC periods and a couple of
mistakes and crashes from others take me up to P2.
When Endru crashed out himself in the castle, I took over P1
and realized that I’m going to win the race.
So, with this word I hope the AMG Petronas Mercedes are
satisfied with the points to the team. It's a shame that both cars didn't score
important points.
I am grateful for the opportunity to drive for Mercedes. I
thank you and wish Ebird all the best in the future.”
Behind Gordini was Dan, who reaped the fruits of his immense
pressure on Atwinke in last 5 laps, forcing him the mistake and retirement and
opened the way for McLaren for double podium with Rollie following him. Yet
Rollie was extra careful to try bring it home safe and found the beast Rothnz
on his tail in straight in last lap, and this mistake denied a McLaren double
podium.
Behind Rollie in P5 was Keon, who was consistent as always
and brought important points to Haas. Altan followed him in P6, with a big
disappointment where two of his biggest rivals for title were missing. He was followed by
Mrmccann who seem to be very successful in finishing around the same positions
in whatever car he drives, and this time in Ferrari. Tan finished 8th, becoming
the victim of his own teammate’s mistake, and settling for 8th where he had
great pace in practices. Leegoat finished 9th, after a race he was involved in
too many incidents despite having a very good pace. Butcher got one of his best
career results, denying an eggplant and taking 12 points with P10. (He had
collected 19 points in total last season). Asln reserved for Callmegogeta and
was able to bring more points than his teammate Endru, after being absent on
track for a very long time. Atwinke couldn’t handle the pressure once more and
despite being P2 on Lap 25, he retired his car yet was able to be classsified
as P12 due to laps completed…
Endru, Cajoco, Kingdom, Selecta, Sir Ibbo, Shmodusg, Tuznani
and Cmrcnn all were eggplanted in the dangerous soil of Baku.
The excitement in A1881 will continue in Miami next Sunday…
