ROTHNZ GETS EVEN MORE ANNOYING IN ALPINE AND WINS IN BAHRAIN!

The opener of Season 7 in A1881 has seen a Rothnz coming from P14 to secure the win on Bahrain GP, and in Alpine this time. Title contenders Leegoat in Redbull and Keon in Ferrari were following him…

Race began with Leegoat on pole and was thought to be mainly passing between him and Keon. Yet Rothnz and his tape had different plans… Keon took advantage of his softs and got Leegoat in T1, while around the same time Rothnz had already gained 8 positions…  Even though Keon escaped DRS before even the end of first lap, he decided to pit to under SC in L4, triggered by the retirement of Tan… Cajoco was leading the pack after this, being followed by Leegoat, Dan and Rollie. The strong defence of Cajoco made Leegoat and others lose time, which further helped Rothnz to come close and take the lead just before the second SC. The rest of the story was the same except not being 15 secs but just 2 seconds ahead of second placed Leegoat. Yeah the CAS could only do this much help...

Rothnz seemed even uglier than last season in the interview winning and already showed that he'll just get more annoying if he gets to continue winning: "Merci merci. Merci à Alpine!

What an opening race of the season!

I just want to say thanks to the Alpine and all the boys back in the factory for their hard work.

After i made a horrible misstake in qualification that made me beach out in the gravel (see Altan, he doesn't even thank you for trying to save) and ended up starting P14, I felt a huge responsible to the team. I was determed to climb to not dissapoint them.

Reporter asks: "After a dominant season in merc, the only possible explanation for you to switch to Alpine was thought to be MONEY. Was it the case or was it the project of Alpine that attracted you?"

Rothnz: What a ridicoulus question!

I got good money already from Mercedes, and well lets be honest. Alpine dont pay me worse. But it wasnt the money who brought me here. I felt Mercedes engine was on the backfoot and I just felt the power of Renault would be the future in F1. They have something interesting in the pipes.

And also i felt teaming up with Endru was a good thing to do. He is a young talent driver and will help me with the constructors better than my last teammate did. (😂😂😂😂) Hopefully I dont need to win 8 races this season to secure WCC because of lack of points from my teammate.

Unfortunately Endru had a bit of unlucky but he showed in qualy he has the pace for top 3 - top 5.

And the race. Well. Since beached and DSQ in Q2 I had 2 brand new softs for the race. I planned for SMS strat, or SH. I climbed from P14 to P5 the first lap, and then it was just pushing hard on my softs. I manage to take P1 after half the race but Legoat had me pressured the entire race. I think that thanks to my straight line speed he never was able to close the gap good enough to have DRS on me, and that was what it was all about, keeping him away more than 1sec from me. And I managed to do so just enough for the rest of the race.

Bonjour Alpine!"

Behind the podium, Cajoco was in outstanding pace in his Alphatauri and clinched P4. He was quite close to a podium until he made a questionable choice of medium tyres and missed braking in T1 after the last SC. He was followed by Altan in P5, who had to start the race with a grid penalty because of his soft heart trying to save Rothnz’s car out of the curbs while he was stuck during quali (true story)… Seriously what was it? We are racing these guys you remember??! Behind Altan was Atwinke in Alfa Romeo, who had a stable race pace. He was followed by Albay in Ferrari, bringing Ferrari on top in WCC with his important contribution. Rollie finished right behind Albay, having a spin after the last SC and only was happy to be ahead of the two Mercedes, Dan and Kingdom respectively. Sir Ibbo is classified 11th, after Haggisnt’s seemingly quite unfair time penalty, who had a very good pace just like the F2 feature race, but was the victim of Rollie’s contact after the second SC. Mrmccann finished 13th, followed by Cmrcnn in Redbull and Ebird in Haas…

The list of eggplants begin with Endru, who was thought to be carrying his team in this race after Rothnz’s disqualification in Q2 and hurt his team by avoiding a strong lead in WCC right in the first race. Tan equaled with Butcher’s incredible record of six eggplants streak, already aiming to be the only name on this field in records book... Tuznani tasted his first eggplant in A1881. While Mass took the wrong car despite being told not to and still eggplanted himself...

The excitement in A1811 will go on in Canada next Sunday!
