ALPINE DO THE DOUBLE IN CANADA WITH ROTHNZ AHEAD ONCE MORE!
Alpine clinched the first double of the season with Rothnz and Endru, with Dan following them on podium despite seeing the checkered flag first…
The two Alpines were sitting on top at start, with the order they finished. We saw Rothnz pulling
away steadily once more, while Endru and Leegoat giving the entertainment with the battle for P2. Many drivers in front had picked hard tyres for saving
themselves from an extra stop before the expected rain, but 2 safety cars
changed the plans and Rothnz again was the one with the better of them. He
switched to inters just when the rain started falling and another SC appeared,
and then gave away the track position once more for switching to full wets, to
come right behind the leading Dan. Dan was hoping to be able to extend his lead
to more than 3 seconds to be able to stay as winner after the penalties being served, but
the retirement of his teammate reset the grid once more which didnt leave him
enough time to extend the lead, which eventually made Rothnz the winner despite
finishing 4th on track...
The winner
of the last 10 races in A1881 couldn’t get enough of giving interviews: “It
wasn't my best performance this day but i’m glad I made it on top after a
confusing ending.
Qualy was
OK but I invalidated on my two last attempts so i’m not very happy with that.
Race
started well, and i could make a gap to ease the pressure from Leegoat and Endru
from behind. Safety Cars and rain compressed the field though. It was quite hard
to get a feeling when you were supposed to pit for first Inters and then wets
when it started to rain even more but I trusted myself here.
I had
quite lucky with both my stops since SC appeared just when I entered pitlane,
so it was good. But I came out behind Dan who had a really strong race tonight,
especially in the rain. He is not called Dan the Rainman for nothing.
It felt
like the entire field had 3sec penalty or more except from me who only had 1
warning, so I felt pretty calm but i had Endru behind and wanted us to be 1-2
but at the same time I wanted our biggest threat Leegoat to be behind us.
On last
lap I went for an attack on Dan in hope to give Endru a chance also. I didn’t
make the overtake so I let Endru pass me instead. Leegoat wasn’t stupid and took
the chance to overtake me too during this. So I was 4th but without penalties
and lucky for me I managed to stay close enough, so when the penalties was
served from Dan, Endru and Leegoat, I could stand on top once again.
I’m a bit
disapointed with my driving tonight, I made a lot of mistakes, locked brakes etc. But after all I stand here with 10 consecutive wins. If you wanna become a
champion you have to prove that you can win on every different ways, and I did
show that today.
Thank you
Endru for a great team effort and 'félicitations" Alpine, for the 1-2, we
are great! 👊🏼”
Endru gave
us the most exciting battles of the grid with Leegoat, including a
controversial overtake in pit entry during SC… Dan received his lovely british
rain to set the conditions for him to thrive, and he did so, but still was
insufficient to win the race where Rothnz exists. Leegoat was classified as 4th
after serving of penalties, setting also the fastest lap of the race. He was
followed by Atwinke in Alfa Romeo, once more giving his better in a mediocre
car, showing the Gasly syndrome. In P6 was Cajoco, who once more was in good
shape in AT. Keon disappointed tifosi with only being able to reach P7. Tan has
got rid of six eggplants at once, reaching P8. Tuznani in Williams received his
first points in the league in Williams by finishing ninth. 10th place was
Mrmccann’s, followed by Cmrcnn in Redbull and CallmeGogeta in Williams, to
reach points by finishing 12th in his first race in A1881 as a reserve. Butcher
had maybe the best pace of his career, forcing top 6 at some point in race, yet
had to settle with P13 in the end. Haggisnt again had an intimidating pace in
Aston, was around the top battles until the few incidents cost him places and
penalties, and eventually came 14th. Sir Ibbo was once more the last driver alive
on grid, in P15.
The first
eggplants of the race were Mclarens’, caused by Tbran’s unsafe joining to
track. Ebird again had very good pace while he survived but had his eggplant eventually.
Last eggplant belonged to Kingdom with just a few laps remaining to be
classified…
The
excitement in A1881 will continue in Jeddah next Sunday with the first %100
length of the race…
