ROTHNZ GETS HIS THIRD WIN IN A ROW AFTER “CONTROVERSIAL BATTLE” WITH ALTAN IN NETHERLANDS GP!
Rothnz grabbed his third win in last three races and clinched the lead in WDC after Netherlands GP. Tbran got his best result in A1881 in Ferrari while Altan’s nemesis teammate Cajoco reached third step of the podium...
Rothnz nailed a sensational pole lap after a qualifying with mixed conditions, yet he lost his position down to third after race start. He, Tbran, Cajoco and Rollie gave us a DRS distance battle until the first SC appeared on Lap 12. Rothnz had the advantage due to being able to cling to top fight with hard compund while the others were on mediums and gambled with taking mediums when there were still 24 laps to go in Zandvoorts. He was on a strong pace once more after the SC and had another solid win, giving him the lead in WDC.
He was on the clouds after the breathtaking win: “Oooooh boy! I sure needed to fight for that victory and Im really happy of course to be on top once more!
I had again a good Qualification, taking me on pole with 0.7sec. I wanted to start on hards to have the better tyres left for the end of the race but it didnt really go as planned.
I had a pretty bad launch on my white socks, while most of the cars behind me was on yellow mediums. Tbran and Cajaco took me after a good battle that lasted all the way to T4, and after that i managed to squeeze myself in front of my teammate Rollie who was on P4. I didnt had any problems to keep up with the boys in front of me and even if I was P3 i thought i could relax a bit cause i had the upper hand later on the race. I got a little impatient and took a chance to pass Tbran’s Ferrari. I tried on Cajaco too on lap 11/12 or so but then we had a SC.
A little bit of bad luck for me who was on hards, it was
50/50 if i could pit and be able to bring the mediums to the end but i took the
gamble.
I was P5 after Altan, Dan, Cajaco and Mrmccann so I had to
do some overtakes to get P1 even that all except Cajaco needed to pit once more.
I could pass Mrmccann on the restart and then Dan on the next lap, then I had both Alpines infront of me. I had a little controversial battle with Altan and I was really sad to see him end with a spin. Then I had Cajaco left. I pressured him hard but he defended well on the hard tyre. I finally could pass him in T1 when a little piece of curb made him loose control of his car. Then i managed my tyre the rest of the race and was able to bring them home with a 74% wear.
This was a really tough win and i really needed to fight so
hard for that! I enjoyed many wheel-to-wheel and it was a great respect in
every battle from my opponents. Also Blueflaggers did an excelent job letting
us pass on a safe way.
Thanks for the race everyone!”
Tbran had a good pace too but only was able to reach P2,
followed by heavily underfueled Cajoco who had to save fuel almost half of the
race. 4th place was Gordini who again had a lonely race. Behind him were
Alphatauris who did their teamplay on injured Rollie and got P5 and 6 with Keon
and Kingdom. Rollie kept within the DRS distance of top 3 until first SC but
came out of pits behind Atwinke due to double stack Mercedes had to do, and
then lost the front and cost Sir Ibbo a DNF and himself a broken wing, which he
had to suffer for 20 laps until the end. Mrmccann had an eventless race this
time and finished P8, taking him 10 points above his teammate and 8th in WDC. Dan
finished 9th, bringing Alfa Romeo important points for the best of the rest
battle with AT and RedBull, where his teammate Endru DNF’ed. Burtay finished
10th ahead of Altan. Altan came from a quali ban once more, decided not to pit
on 12 laps old hards, and had a lag-inflicted contact with Rothnz which cost
him getting the very back of the grid once more and finished 11th eventually.
He was followed by Atwinke at P12 who was another victim of the contact of
Rollie and Sir Ibbo with a broken wing. Cmrcnn and Butcher were able to finish
this difficult track and got rid of their eggplants with P13 and 14.
Sir Ibbo and Leegoat added to their eggplant tallies with Endru
who gives a disappointing season after last year’s incredible performance. Next
Sunday we will be on Hungaroring with Rothnz on lead and Altan chasing him from
26 points behind…
