EBIRD CLINCHES HIS FIRST TITLE IN A1881 IN A DRAMATIC WAY!
Ebird clinched the Season 5 title in a strategic way in
Spain GP, while Endru showed incredible pace and character but lost on equal
points by finishing the race third behind Dupewar…
Some might say my tactics were quite dodgy when I overtook
Endru who was on old mediums and I was on new softs but I realised he was
likely to finish P2 so I slowed him down to give Dupewar a chance to overtake
him in which he did on the last lap...
I just want to say thank you Dan and Endru for an amazing
season.
Thank you for an amazing season Rollie and for an amazing
league with a great community!”
With this amazing win, Ebird has been the only driver to win
6 races in a season since the seasons are shortened to 10 races and he equaled
with Dupewar in the number of races won in total with 7, whom he partly owes the title.
Endru deserves a paragraph for the incredible performance he
showed despite having a relatively slow car. He has overcome many obstacles,
reached podiums despite quali bans, taking his first win in the league and led
the championship going into the last race. He lost the title only a few turns
left to finish and despite this he showed a very respectful attitude post race.
He has shown he has the quality to be in the title fight whatever car he will
be sitting in next season.
Dan also has been impressive especially at the beginning of
the season and led the championship for a long while. He had an unlucky and
clumsy race yesterday on Spain soil and retired his car in the pits after
losing hopes for the title, yet he was able to reach his first medal in the
league alongside his eggplant…
In 4th place was Burtay who was replacing Pomak and had a
good pace throughout, threatened Endru for a long time and brought Ferrari
important points. But this was not sufficient for the tifosi to climb above
Mercedes in WCC. Behind him was Tbran who got his best result in A1881 by
reaching 5th, also saving himself from triple eggplants. He was followed by
Leegoat, who has been a good and supportive teammate throughout the season.
Altan was 7th, and this was more than enough for him and Alpine to be “the
best of the rest” in WDC and WCC, giving him and his team 4th place, one point above Rollie, 27 points above Mclaren. He was
followed by Rothnz who cost Rollie the 4th place in WDC with his new expensive
rig. Rollie finished 9th after suffering a wing damage in T1 and was followed
by Keon who actually was ahead of Rollie but gave way to his teammate. Mrmccann
saved himself from his Williams season with P11, followed by Butcher who also
had a good result, ending the season without an eggplant but still at the
bottom of standings. Cmrcnn came 13th but was still unable to climb above Sir
Ibbo in final standings, who finished 14th in Spain.
This season has been the second season in which the champion
was determined by the number of races won, and surely one to remember. Thanks to
all the drivers involved!
