ALTAN GETS HIS LONG AWAITED WIN IN BAKU AND KEEPS ALPINE ON TOP!
Altan has taken the win in Azerbaijan GP with a strong
performance and gave Alpine its second win in a row. Rollie found himself second
place after unexpected last lap incidents and Sertac completed the Turkish trio
on podium with McLaren this time…
Rothnz was on pole in race start with an incredible time in
quali without any tow coming from his teammate and kept his lead until Lap 15.
He did an unorthodox selection of strategy and refused to pit for hards when
the second SC entered at lap 6. After his pits, he came behind Leegoat at P3
and was soon in second place to battle for the win with Altan and still had the
upper hand with his fresh mediums against Altan’s worn hards. With the entering
of last SC Altan switched to mediums while Rothnz picked softs, when just 4
laps were left to race. Altan kept the lead despite considerable pressure and
defended nicely. When DRS was available, Rothnz would have one or two more
chances to attack but he locked up in T3 at Lap 25 and did a Vettel in runoff
area only to come back at P4. After this, Altan only needed to bring it home safe
2 seconds ahead of Rollie, to reach his first win after Season 2 Netherlands
GP…
He was on the clouds to get his first win in F1 22 game: “First of all,
thanks for all the congratulations and compliments. Leegendary and Rothnz upset
my motivation, which I tried to protect at the start of the race, with their
magnificent laps in the qualifying, but winning a position at the start and
avoiding a troublemaker like Sertac made me feel like a tiger. My tiger turned
into a wet kitten as Cajoco took away my clumsiness medal as well. It was a title
race and there were drivers on the track that were infuriatingly fast. I had to
keep my cool and my first motivation was to turn Sertac's mistake into an
advantage. I was in a good mood with the math calculations like Leegendary had
to drive Haas and Rothnz had to pit. I was pushing the limits on the streets of
Baku. I was traversing every tour, every sector, as if Peter was running over
the hills to Heidi. The fact that I couldn't see Rollie in the ranking table
added to my pleasure… The hills were high and I had never seen Heidi in 2022
and missed her so much... I should have reunited with Heidi, but I wasn't the
only one who went crazy trying to get her. There was another Heidi lover and
the taste of the title was still in his mouth. It wasn't Rollie, this
guy was giving Mercedes what it deserves and was going to take Heidi away from
me. When I looked in my rearview mirror, it was as if Heidi's soulless
grandfather was calling me, Rothnz!!!. I don't know how it happened, but
despite my tire disadvantage, I was able to escape his DRS and reunited with
Heidi like wild horses running over high hills. Even the appearance of Rollie behind
me did not prevent my happiness. It was an excellent race, more to come...
Thanks everyone!”
Rollie would possibly stay around P5 or 6, if he wasn’t to
find himself flowing past the incident between Mrmccann and Leegoat, which also
affected Dan… After this he was in P3 with pressure coming from Sertac, but
both were able to reach podium after Rothnz’ mistake. Sertac was shining again,
reaching his second P3 in two races he reserved.
Behind Rothnz in fifth place was Endru, who showed a good
teamwork to pull Dan with DRS, where he needed the most with a damaged wing and
Keon approaching his tail in last lap. Keon finished P7 ahead of Leegoat, who
had a high downforce setup different from the rest of the grid and had another
impressive race in his Haas this season. He was surely one to reach podium
until the controversial incident with Mrmccann and yet he had to settle for P8
after that. Mrmccann finished P9, this time was classified ahead of his
teammate Atwinke who dnfed entering the last lap while he was in P7 behind Dan, on a
flat-out section where he wasnt prepared for Dan’s slow taking of it due to his
wing damage. Once more Sir Ibbo was the last driver alive to see the checkered
flag at P10.
Atwinke was classified as 11th for retiring in last laps due
to laps completed, while Burtay, Cajoco, Gio, Dupewar, Shmodus and Tan were all
eggplanted. Cajoco’s eggplant was a special one being grown during a SC season…
With these results, Altan gained the lead in WDC 16 points
ahead of Rollie and 31 points ahead of Rothnz, while Alpine keeping the lead in
WCC 15 points above Mercedes as we are giving a christmas break to return back
to racing in Jeddah in the first day of the new year…
