JORDAN TAKES CHAOTIC BAKU WIN AS MEJG HITS THE WALL IN WILDEST RACE OF A1881 HISTORY

The streets of Baku lived up to their reputation, but even by A1881 standards, Round 4 of Season 20 went completely off-script. In a race with the highest number of retirements ever seen in league history, it was Jordan in the KICK Sauber who survived the carnage to win ahead of Dunce in the Aston Martin and Energetic in the Haas, completing a podium hard to predict...

We didn’t have news coverage for last week’s Australian Grand Prix, but it was Jordan who took that win too. And now with back-to-back victories, the former champion has climbed right to the top of the standings, leapfrogging AA_Mejg in what already looks like a season-defining swing.

Jordan's interview will be added later.

AA_Mejg had started from pole in the VisaRB and looked in control through the opening phases. After the third Safety Car bunched up the field with ten laps to go, he was locked in a tense duel with Jordan. But disaster struck at Turn 3, when Mejg clipped the wall and left debris all over the circuit. Worse still, his loose carbon fiber handed Rollie in the Alpine a heartbreaking puncture just as he was cruising to his first podium of the season. Rollie was able to bring the car right in front of the pits, but the right rear tyre also giving up left him unable to move and enter the pits, joining the long casualty list in Baku.

Dunce in the Aston Martin delivered one of his strongest drives yet, surviving the chaos with steady pace and clever positioning, securing another podium that keeps him firmly in the title conversation. Energetic, this time in the Haas, was equally impressive. Drafted in as a reserve, he kept a cool head while others lost theirs, and his P3 finish was the perfect reward after avoiding the madness around him.

SV5-3787 in the other Haas had pace but also controversy, with his aggressive moves where he seemed to lose his cool and retaliate deliberately, triggering several frustrated radio messages. He still managed to finish in the top five, but the paddock chatter will linger long after this one. Selecta in the second Aston Martin avoided the fate of many around him, bringing home an excellent P4 and giving Aston Martin a huge points haul in the Constructors’ fight.

Endru in the VisaRB had looked like a podium candidate early on but got shuffled down after contact and strategy setbacks, finishing sixth. Javinwain in the Williams pulled off one of the quiet stories of the race, starting from P18 and navigating through absolute chaos to finish seventh, showing flashes of the resilience that once made him a regular podium threat.

Kast1908 delivered Ferrari’s best hope, surviving the attrition to finish eighth after a tough qualifying. Sir Ibbo in the McLaren made his race all about survival—and it paid off with ninth, his best result of the season so far, a much-needed boost after a difficult opening few rounds.

Behind them, every other car on the grid retired. Bards19 in the Williams had a solid qualifying in P3 but couldn’t make it stick once the race descended into mayhem. They tangled with Endru while Endru forced a tough move on a fast corner where is atypical to overtake and Bards found himself in the wall retiring. Gordini in the Mercedes also bowed out after starting way down in P19, a disappointing weekend after showing much more earlier this season.

Tvoje mamkacz in the Alpine got tangled in the chaos and saw his race cut short, while Ferrari’s stand-in HaggisNT couldn’t turn a promising grid spot into points. Mercedes had another reserve with Scaparro, but he too ended up on the long DNF list. NaeDangerDavid’s rough start to the season continued, as his KICK Sauber ended in the barriers once again, becoming the victim of Endru's hitting from behind. Inginne’s Red Bull had pace but no luck, exiting early, while teammate SCR_FTronc also retired after a messy scrap after a moment with Javinwain. Crunchypancake in the McLaren made it 11 total retirements, setting a record that nobody in the paddock wanted to see.

For the Constructors’ battle, VisaRB still leads thanks to their dominant early season, but KICK Sauber and Aston Martin are suddenly surging after big points hauls in Baku. Ferrari and Mercedes remain locked in a tie, while Haas’s double haul from Energetic and SV5 means they’ve vaulted themselves back into the fight. Williams, Alpine, and McLaren at least took something away from the wreckage, while Red Bull continue to struggle for momentum.

The championship picture is now wide open, with Jordan’s back-to-back wins putting him at the head of the table on 123 points, Mejg chasing just ten behind, and Endru and Dunce both within striking distance. With only four rounds gone, the narrative already feels tighter than Season 19, and the fireworks are only just beginning.

Sadly, we missed Ironghost on comms this weekend, and the lack of live commentary only added to the surreal vibe of a race that already felt impossible to process in real time. Even so, A1881 fans will not forget this Baku madness anytime soon.
