AA_MEJG SNATCHES LAST-LAP GLORY IN MONZA THRILLER OVER JORDAN, JUSTIN COMPLETES VISA RB 1–3

Round 2 of Season 20 at the Italian Grand Prix delivered one of the most dramatic finishes in recent A1881 history. In a race that began on a damp track and evolved into a dry showdown, AA_Mejg in the VisaRB took victory by just one tenth of a second over Jordan in the KICK Sauber. Completing the podium was Justin, stepping in for Endru at the second VisaRB, to secure a double-podium for the team and keep them firmly in control of the Constructors’ Championship...

The race unfolded with Mejg converting pole into an early lead, while Jordan and Justin kept the pressure alive throughout the first stint. The surprise element came with the weather; what was forecast to be cloudy turned into a persistent light rain for half of the race, catching several drivers off guard on strategy. Still, the battle at the front never cooled off.

“Definitely a great start to season 20 of A1881! Exactly what I needed after last season. Anyway, I'm glad my first run in Q3 was enough for pole as I just about invalidated my last run in Ascari which was a 4 tenth improvement. The weather was a surprise for most of us… I had to fuel save quite a lot and even though Jordan had to do the same, he caught up and even passed me by undercutting. The race went on, we were in full control and I felt like I had more pace. I overtook Jordan back and even tried to break DRS from him, which I actually managed to do, but ended up making mistakes right after. He stuck with me all the way to the end where he overtook me going into turn 1 on the last lap (a lapped AI car had impeded me on the penultimate lap). I kept my head cool, tried to stay close and save some ERS for sector 3. On the straight after Ascari I closed the gap and we went side by side into Parabolica, the last corner on the last lap. Thanks to a bit more ERS and a lot of commitment it ended up being enough as I came home in P1 at Monza with the victory margin at just 1 tenth of a second. That's an amazing feeling! The target for this season is of course to take back the crown, and to get that 4th A1881 drivers' title.”

Behind the headline scrap, Energetic impressed in the Ferrari, running close with the leaders in the early stages and eventually sealing P4, making it a much-needed boost both for Cajoco and for the Scuderia. Keon drove consistently for Mercedes to grab P5, while Dunce showed once again why he’s become a reliable front-runner by putting his Aston Martin in P6 despite the tricky transitions from wet to dry.

Williams had only Javinwain in the mix, with Bards' wildcard Quartiux failed to join the session. Rollie_A1881 bagged P8 for Alpine after a strong mid-race recovery, while teammate Tvoje_mamkacz came home P12, surviving the wet start but never finding the rhythm once the circuit dried out, and almost rear ending his teammate while lapped at last lap...

Mercedes enjoyed a solid double haul with Gordini finishing P9, proving steady and opportunistic in the chaos, giving Rollie the sweat all race. SCR_FTronc brought the Red Bull to P10 after a scrappy but resilient run, while Kast1908 ensured Ferrari had both cars in the points by taking P11.

Further back, SV5-3787 collected P13 in the Haas, a quieter afternoon compared to his dramatic debut in Zandvoort. Sir_Ibbo in the McLaren ended P14 after staying out of trouble. The remaining finishers were the retirees: Selecta, Rian, Naedangerdavid and Inginne all parked their cars in pits early in the race.

This result leaves Mejg with a perfect record so far in Season 20 — 80 points from two races — firmly establishing him as the man to beat. Cajoco remains second in the standings despite missing the race here, while Endru, thanks to Justin’s efforts in his car, still sits third. In the Constructors’ table, VisaRB are already pulling away with 132 points, more than double their closest challenger Mercedes.

The only sour note was off track: Ironghost couldn’t connect to the lobby and the fans were left without commentary, while Goktug’s much-anticipated debut was spoiled by technical and connection issues. Hopefully, both will be back for Round 3.

Season 20 already feels like a two-pronged story: Mejg’s mission for a fourth title, and the pack of hungry rivals trying to stop him while Jordan tries to keep his crown in the slowest car of grid...
