SEASON 18 REVIEW: AA_MEJG TAKES THIRD STRAIGHT TITLE AS ALPINE SEALS A DOMINANT DOUBLE

Season 18 of A1881 delivered another thrilling chapter in league history, with AA_Mejg clinching his third consecutive World Drivers’ Championship and Alpine comfortably securing the Constructors’ crown. From Australia to the dramatic season finale at Imola, this campaign was packed with weather chaos, on-track drama, and tight margins in both championship fights...

AA_Mejg’s season was the epitome of excellence and control. Despite the rotating handicaps of the CAS system, he not only remained competitive but avoided key mistakes under pressure — most notably at Imola, where he was the only driver to finish without a single track limits penalty. His decision to slow down on the final lap and gift the win to teammate Endru capped off Alpine’s dominance and highlighted his maturity as both champion and team player.

With this achievement, AA_Mejg becomes only the second driver in A1881 history to win three titles in a row, joining RothNz (Seasons 6–8) in that elite club. He now stands second in the all-time Hall of Fame rankings, trailing only RothNz’s five-title record — a clear marker of Mejg’s lasting legacy.

Season Highlights and Turning Points

The year began in Melbourne, where AA_Mejg immediately made his intentions clear with a commanding win. Jordan emerged as his closest challenger later on, winning key rounds and pushing Mejg deep into the season. Meanwhile, the likes of Dunce, Endru, Rollie, and others kept the pressure high as podiums shuffled week to week.

Among the most intense battles was the wet-dry chaos of Mexico, where rain mid-race split strategies. Rollie had been locked in a tight three-way fight with Mejg and Jordan but spun in the tricky conditions and picked up a costly penalty. Javinwain capitalized with a surprise career-first podium, marking a breakout moment in his no-assists journey.

Imola closed out the season in cinematic fashion. Alpine locked out the front row and tactically DRS-swapped for most of the 63-lap race. Jordan, still in contention for the title, was struck by a drive-through penalty during a VSC period and couldn’t recover. While Endru held 12 seconds in penalties, Mejg backed off on the final lap to let him through — a symbolic passing of the torch as Alpine’s duo finished 1–2.

“Had a decent qualifying to start P3, good start to keep position and then VSC came on and when it finished there was a beautiful Drive Through penalty next to Jordan’s name,” said Endru after the win. “After that, me and Mejg swapped every lap up to lap 63 while he got no penalties and I got all of them. On the last lap, Mejg let me through to take the win so this is more our win. I want to thank and congratulate Mejg for this season and congratulations to everyone that was involved in it.”

Mejg added: “What a run it's been on F1 24. I've enjoyed the racing in A1881 a lot! I honestly don't dislike F1 24 (I only did in the beginning). It's not great, but I don't think it's awful either. Anyway, I'm very happy that I didn't have to retire from F1 league racing last night 😅 Thank you for providing such a great league with amazing people! 🙏”

Team & Driver Notes

  • Alpine: A season-long masterclass. Both drivers won races, and their chemistry in battles like Imola showed a united front rarely seen in such competitive fields.

  • Jordan (VisaRB): Relentless throughout the season, pushing Mejg to the limit. Mexico and Imola proved costly, but second place is a strong result in such a deep field.

  • Dunce (Ferrari): Quietly consistent and always a threat. A well-earned third in the championship, rounding out a strong Ferrari campaign.

  • Endru: Alpine’s silent weapon. Two wins and a constant team-first mindset made him a vital part of the Constructors’ title — and a true #2 with #1 pace.

  • Rollie_A1881: A quick start to the season and several strong points finishes kept him in the fight, though a couple of wet weather slips curtailed a higher result.

  • NaeDangerDavid & Tvoje_mamkacz: Both had strong showings for their teams. Nae’s P4 in Imola and Tvoje’s early-season consistency anchored Aston and Haas.

  • Javinwain: Took a huge step forward in no-assists competition. His Mexico podium was a season highlight and signals big potential for Season 19.

  • TSC Racing (McLaren): Standing in on multiple occasions, TSC showed strong pace and composure, building a real case for a full-time seat next season.

  • Crunchypancake & Inginne: Found pace difficult to convert into results, but remained steady participants.

  • Quartiux, Rian, Gordini, Selecta, Dan, Keon: All contributed with key results throughout the season. The field depth ensured no race was predictable.

Looking Ahead

Season 18 closed the chapter on F1 24 with a thrilling and emotional finale. From strategy chaos in changing weather to DRS chess at the front, A1881 proved again why it's among the top simracing leagues. Thanks to all drivers for their commitment and passion throughout a competitive and memorable year.

Stay tuned for Season 19, launching on the new F1 25 title. We’ll kick off with the Canadian Grand Prix on June 15, once again aligned with real F1.

The Car Allocation System (CAS) will be in action during the upcoming week to level the playing field once again using the new F1 25 game’s performance data.

See you on track!
