AA_MEJG STRIKES AGAIN IN CANADA AS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD GROWS
Mejg kept his determined winner attitude to become one of the greatest of A1881 and was cheerful after the race. "I had more to give in qualifying, but I'm happy with my race pace tonight. There were a few occasions where I had to fight for position and in the end it worked out in my favor on the alternative strategy. I decided to go for an extra lap when my friend and rival Jordan boxed. I was slowly catching him late in the race, but some lapped cars helped me a bit extra and when Endru sent it on Jordan into the chicane on the penultimate lap I knew I just had to bring the car home in one piece. It was fun tonight, GGs!" said Mejg after his impressive win.
Williams' Jordan put in a strong drive from pole position but ultimately finished second after a late-race battle. Endru, driving for VisaRB, joined the podium once again in third, continuing his consistent performances and keeping his title hopes alive. His aggressive move on Jordan in the closing laps gave Mejg the perfect opportunity to take control of the race.
VisaRB teammate NaeDangerDavid followed closely in fourth, maintaining solid points for the team, while Moikkuli, the Finnish wildcard for Rian in Alpine, secured a valuable fifth-place finish, despite an unlucky and dubious drive through penalty. Dunce brought home sixth for Aston Martin, keeping his season momentum going.
Moksha, making his first Redbull appearance reserving for Keon, impressed with a seventh-place finish, while Mercedes' Tvoje followed in eighth. Aston Martin’s Javinwain, had a strong debut standing in for Rothnz, finished ninth, helping Aston Martin stay in the constructors’ fight. TarkanGino rounded out the top ten for Haas first time this season, showing remarkable pace.
Ferrari’s Rollie had a tough race but still managed to finish ahead of Bhavish, despite having a disastrous day. Bhavish’s Mercedes crossed the line in twelfth, marking a frustrating end to his weekend.
Slowfiveohh took thirteenth for RedBull, followed by the new full time driver Quartiux in the second Ferrari, after a record 24 seconds penalty for track limits. Haas' Crunchypancake finished fifteenth, while Williams’ Sir_Ibbo secured sixteenth after a quiet race.
The race saw three retirements. Teammates Gordini and Selecta found themselves facing each other on track after a bizarre incident where Selecta decided to hug his incoming teammate, retiring both cars in the process. Meanwhile, Justin once again showed flashes of strong pace but lacked the consistency to capitalize, ending his race early for KICK Sauber.
With four rounds complete, Alpine extends its lead in the constructors' standings with 214 points, followed by VisaRB with 187 and Aston Martin at 155. In the drivers’ standings, Mejg continues to pull away, while Endru, Jordan, Rothnz, Dunce and NaeDangerDavid remain in close pursuit for P2.
A1881 now heads to Monza for Round 5, the first 100% race distance event of the season that promises to shake up strategies and test endurance. With tensions rising and the championship fight intensifying, all eyes are on the Temple of Speed for the next chapter of this thrilling season...
