A1881 THRILLER AT MONZA: ENDRU SNATCHES VICTORY IN LAST-CORNER DRAMA!
A1881 produced yet another spectacular race at Monza, with a stunning last-lap, last-corner overtake deciding the winner. After 53 laps of relentless racing, it was Endru in the VisaRB who clinched his first win of the season, edging out championship leader AA_Mejg in Alpine in an unforgettable battle, with Jordan filling the podium in Williams...
From the start, it was clear this would be a three-way fight. Pole-sitter Mejg, Jordan in the Williams, and Endru remained locked in a DRS train for the entirety of the race, with no Safety Cars to interrupt the flow. The lead exchanged hands multiple times, but it all came down to the final lap. Heading into the last chicane, Endru made a decisive move, slipping past Mejg in the final corner to take the victory. Jordan, who had been in the mix throughout, had to settle for third but played a crucial role in keeping the race thrilling.
“Quali was wet all the way and I was confident in the wet, but my last lap in Q3 was just very messy,” Endru said post-race. “On Monza, quali doesn’t matter, so from there it was just stay in the DRS train and plan for the last lap, which worked well for me. But definitely a very tricky race with a lot of tactics and no Safety Car. Congrats to the top three with a miraculous battle from lap 1 all the way to the end of lap 53.”
Rian delivered a solid fourth-place finish in the second Alpine, ensuring strong points for the team. Meanwhile, NaeDangerDavid recovered from a frustrating wheel issue to claim fifth for VisaRB, underlining the team’s resilience in their constructors' battle. Bhavish put in another strong showing for Mercedes in sixth, while Rothnz and Selecta engaged in one of the longest and most intense battles of the race, with the Aston Martin driver ultimately taking seventh ahead of the McLaren.
Rollie had the pace to challenge for a stronger result but was rear-ended by Justin’s KICK Sauber early on, forcing him to drive nearly 40 laps with rear wing damage. Despite the setback, he still managed ninth, just ahead of Tvoje_mamkacz in the second Mercedes. The two were classified just fractions apart, but a last-minute track limits penalty for Tvoje meant Rollie retained his position by the narrowest of margins.
Justin ultimately finished 11th after his costly mistake, while his McLaren rival Gordini followed in 12th. Dunce, who set the fastest lap of the race, endured a tough day and had to settle for 13th. Dan, stepping in as a reserve for Inginne at KICK Sauber, took 14th place, while Keon secured 15th for Red Bull.
Crunchypancake, Sir_Ibbo, and Quartiux all had difficult races, with the latter disappointing in front of the Italian fans. Quartiux accumulated a staggering 21 seconds of penalties before ultimately retiring from the race. Slowfiveohh and Javinwain—standing in for TarkanGino at Haas—also failed to finish, bringing the retirement count to three.
With this result, the championship battle has tightened significantly. Mejg still leads the standings with 182 points, but Endru has closed the gap to 31 points with his victory, while Jordan remains in contention in third. Alpine continues to lead the constructors’ standings, but VisaRB’s double top-five finish has brought them within striking distance.
Next up is the Singapore GP, where the demanding street circuit will provide a completely different challenge. The action from Monza, beautifully commentated by Ironghost, can be relived here:
