RIAN DOMINATES MONACO GP AS CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE INTENSIFIES!
The streets
of Monaco set the stage for a masterclass from Rian, who converted his
pole position into a commanding victory for Aston Martin, reigniting his
championship hopes. With only two races left, the title fight is razor-sharp.
If Rian secures victories in both remaining rounds, he will claim the
championship, adding immense pressure on current leader AA_Mejg...
Starting
from pole, Rian capitalized on Monaco’s notorious difficulty for overtaking.
Despite a late safety car that threatened to upend his lead, he remained calm,
managed his race to perfection, and brought home maximum points. His closest
challenger, AA_Mejg, could only muster second place in the Visa RB,
after being held up in the early stages. Jordan completed the podium
with a strong third-place finish for Alpine, holding off the midfield
pressure.
Post-Race
Interview with Rian:
After seeing
I had a good bit of pace over the others, my plan was to try and build a
pitstop gap to P3 and down so I wouldn’t get stuck behind anyone after I pit.
From then on, it was just about taking it easy and bringing it home. But in
A1881 fashion, we got a safety car with 10 laps to go 🤣. Thankfully, I
had pulled another pitstop gap and could comfortably pit again for the softs to
stop any sort of attack from behind.
The last
five or so laps were just about trying to drag Jordan with me so he could get a
three-second gap to Mejgz, but Mejgz had great pace on the mediums and was able
to just stick there. Overall, I’m very happy with the outcome: maximum points
and looking forward to the next two.
I definitely
won’t be anywhere near as dominant as I was today, but I’ve got belief in
myself that I can do it after winning the last three races on track but losing
two because of my own stupid mistakes. I know Mejgz and Jordan will both also
be gunning for it, so whoever the championship goes to in the end, it’ll be a
good battle, and I’ve enjoyed the season.”*
Midfield Drama Steals the Spotlight
Rollie_A1881 delivered an inspired performance
to claim fifth for Mercedes, jumping ahead of rival RothNz in the
standings. RothNz’s race ended in humiliation as the Ferrari driver
failed to finish, compounding a season marred by inconsistency. Rollie now
holds sixth in the drivers’ standings with 136 points, leaving RothNz trailing
in seventh with 133. Fans took to social media to mock the Ferrari driver’s
woes, with many praising Rollie’s steady climb.
Further down
the order, Selecta impressed in the Williams with a
fourth-place finish, while Gordini and Endru kept Alpine
and Mercedes in the hunt with solid P6 and P7 results, respectively. Dunce secured eighth for Visa RB after deduction of 6s time penalty,
ahead of PSKeon, who was reserving for NaeDangerDavid in the
second Aston Martin...
Retirements
marred the bottom half of the field, with Sir_Ibbo, Slowfiveohh, Crunchypancake,
and Inginne joining RothNz as DNFs. Inginne’s zero-point season
continued, leaving the Red Bull driver in dire straits.
Championship Standings Tighten
AA_Mejg leads the drivers’ championship
with 244 points, but Rian is closing in fast with 232 after his dominant
performance. Jordan sits third with 215 points, and is now effectively almost out of the title race.
In the
constructors’ battle, Aston Martin extended their lead to 424 points,
distancing themselves from Visa RB (368) and Mercedes (323).
The fight for second remains fierce as Alpine's consistent performances keep
them at 298 points.
