RIANC TOPS HIMSELF AND ALPINE ON STANDINGS WITH A WIN ON PORTUGAL GP!

Rianc secured another impressive win in Alpine, to place himself and his team on top in standings. Leegoat was the only serious threat to him in Haas, grabbing a well deserved second place in podium. Selecta was once more on the last step of podium in his McLaren…

Rianc got pole with an annoying time for others. He had a contact in T1 and fell back to P9, after which he had to deal with risky situations in which he also received wing damage, after his contact with Vithjalmen. Despite damage he was able to keep himself behind the top cars’ DRS distance. After pits he switched to mediums relatively early but climbed above steadily, claiming P1 from Leegoat around Lap 24. Leegoat didn’t give up easy and was in his DRS until last 3 laps, but was unable to get more. Here’s another interview of Rianc which we seem to get used to:

Rianc: “Yea quali was great, to get pole by a second is quite nice, unfortunately i spun on the first lap of the race and then I got wing damage a little later on in the lap. When I pit I also had to change the wing which caused me to come out 10 seconds behind Rothnz who was in net p1 and 4 seconds behind Leegoat in p2. Thankfully having changed the wing and having much fresher tires than Rothnz me and Leegoat where able to catch up in a few laps. I then got the lead of Leegoat with about 10 laps to go and from then on it was all about trying to keep Leegoat behind and bring the car home”

Leegoat’s performance deserves another paragraph. His picking of Portugal GP for this season made much more sense after seeing what he was capable of doing in Haas. He could be the absolute favourite with his pace for this race, if only we didn’t have the alien Rianc… Selecta also seemed to be much more in peace with his car this season, sustaining his streak of reaching P3 in all the races he finished.

Behind the podium we had Vithjalmen in Alphatauri, who was able to keep P3 in standings and still shooting for his first medal in A1881. He was followed by Rothnz in Williams, who continues his sneaky climb in standings. Valward brought Mercedes in P6 in his wildcard ride for Tazer. On P7 we had Gordini in McLaren. Mrmccann finished in his usual position at P8, with a good distance from the pack in behind. Cajoco tried to limit damage for Alfa Romeo, yet his position still wasn’t enough for them to sustain their lead in WCC. Rollie reached P10, which was the only realistic goal for him, thanks to underfueling of Keon. Kragish brought the Haas of Haggisnt as eleventh in his wildcard reserving. Keon still finished ahead of his teammate Altan, despite running the last lap with no fuel. Sir Ibbo seemed to be in one of his strongest tracks, reaching an easy Q2 and good pace, to bring his RedBull as P15, ahead of his new rival Dan in Williams… Ehem… Elgogetaman once more was consistent and finished another difficult race in Alphatauri, ahead of the last driver alive on track, Cmrcnn in Redbull…

Championship contender Forrest Jump didn’t seem to cope well with his quali ban and retired in pits after receiving damage in his contact with Cmrcnn, making himself the only eggplant owner of the race.

Fight for WDC and WCC in A1881 will continue on Qatar GP next Sunday!
